I am old. Do you realize that I didn’t even have a computer until I was out of college? I never had to worry about the things that you all have to face in your lives. You face many challenges in your online world. How much private information should you share? Who will be looking at your online life? How will your online presence reflect on you?
But there are so many benefits, do the positives outweigh the negatives? Yes. How often did I get to talk to other people around the world…never. I did have a French pen pal for a while, but our letters took a couple of weeks to go back and forth. It’s not exactly the same as emailing or IMing or Twittering (my favorite). In our class, I am hoping to introduce you to people around the world. You can talk to them, interact with them and share experiences. Imagine if when we talk about French schools you got to talk to French students to ask them what school is like for them? I’m quite sure that our book doesn’t necessarily give a truly accurate picture of French teenagers. Are there any pictures of them in our book with a cell phone.? I don’t think so and I’m sure they all have them just like you guys do.
